About us

Digital Forerunners helps gamers and tech enthusiasts choose the right hardware. We write buying guides and reviews of gaming headsets, monitors, laptops, desktop computers, microphones, mice and other accessories, and we explain the specifications in words that make sense before you spend your money.

Digital Forerunners is not a shop. We do not sell products, take orders or handle payments. When you decide to buy, you do it with the retailer, such as Amazon, under that retailer’s terms and prices.

What we do

Our guides answer the questions people ask before they buy new gear. We cover:

  • gaming headsets, from budget picks to wireless and surround models
  • gaming and 4K monitors, including refresh rates, panel types and response times
  • gaming laptops and desktop computers for different budgets
  • microphones for streaming, podcasts and voice chat
  • gaming mice and other PC accessories
  • comparisons and top lists that show which product suits which kind of player
  • practical advice on setting up, connecting and getting more out of your hardware

Our principles

A few simple rules guide everything we publish:

  • Specs explained, not just listed. We tell you what a number on the box means for the way you play, watch or work.
  • Honest verdicts. Our opinion of a product is our own. A manufacturer or retailer cannot pay to change what we write about it.
  • Weaknesses included. Every product has trade-offs, and we name them, whether that is comfort, build quality, battery life or price.
  • Open about money. Some links to shops are affiliate links, and we may earn a small commission if you buy. The price you pay stays the same, and the commission never decides which product we recommend.
  • Kept up to date. Prices change and new models replace old ones. We go back to older guides and correct what is no longer accurate.

The editorial team

Liam Ashdown is the editor and writer behind Digital Forerunners. Liam has built and upgraded gaming PCs for many years and follows the hardware market closely, from new headset and monitor releases to the laptops that handle the latest games. Liam decides what is published, checks the facts and specifications in every guide and makes sure the site follows the principles on this page.

How we use AI

We use AI tools, among them Claude from Anthropic, to help gather background information, plan the structure of a guide and write a first draft. Nothing is published as the tool wrote it. The editor checks every specification, price claim and comparison against manufacturers’ data and other reliable sources, and rewrites the text before it goes live. We are responsible for everything we publish. Our AI policy explains the process in more detail.

Contact

If you find a mistake, a product that is no longer sold or a link that no longer works, please tell us through our contact page. We read every message and correct errors as quickly as we can. Our privacy policy explains what we do with the information you send, and our terms of use set out the rules for using the site.

Gamble responsibly

Gaming and gambling sometimes meet: a few of our articles mention online casino sites. Digital Forerunners gives information only. We do not offer gambling, and nothing on this site is an encouragement to gamble or a promise of winnings.

Gambling for real money always carries a risk of loss and can lead to gambling harm. You must be old enough to gamble under the law where you live: 18 in most countries, while many US states set 21 for casino gambling. Decide on a limit for time and money before you start, and only use money you can afford to lose.

If gambling is causing problems for you or for someone close to you, free and confidential help is available. Gambling Therapy supports people worldwide online, and our responsible gambling page lists helplines for the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and other countries.
